Caught the 2230 show on Channel 5 last night.. Its was a very very nice show (to me) & i can totally relate to it..

Michelle Chong as Ah Fong, a hawker selling Nasi Lemak & sweet potato porridge. Darren Lim as Hock Seng, a teacher..

The story with Ah Fong, a lovelorn woman without any fashion sense, meeting Hock Seng, a lonely man @ a pub..

Hock Seng had spent the last 15 years caring for his ill Dad, & had no time for love.. Ah Fong on the other hand, was a woman, hungry & longing for love.. But, she too had no time for love due to her work & elderly mother...

One day, while drinking with some friends, Ah Fong noticed a dejected Hock Seng, drinking alone, & was heading towards to the staircase landing.. Ah Fong, being the kind-hearted lady she was, followed him quietly & found him crying..

Now, fast forward...

They soon became lovers.. But everything came to an abrupt end when Hock Seng ran into his colleague when on date, & was being jeered at, for dating Ah Fong.. Back @ school, he was faced with all the nasty remarks, & that was when he started shunning Ah Fong..

Ah Fong, on the other hand, was still ignorant of all the happenings, & was busy preparing a big surprise for Hock Seng's upcoming birthday celebration, She had called Hock Seng & told him to drop by her stall on his birthday as she had a surprise for him..

But, Hock Seng did not turn up.. Instead, he went for the birthday party his colleague had planned for him.. There, he met Margaret whom had dumped him earlier, for another man... There, she made advances with him..

Just then, Ah Fong, who had been waiting @ the stall with the surprise, turned up @ the party, & saw Hock Seng on top of Margaret.. Hock Seng saw Ah Fong, & rushed towards her, wanting to explain.. But Ah Fong simply said:

I thought you were different...

She passed him the gifts she had for him & left the place, in tears..

Hock Seng got home, opened the gift, & was shocked that Ah Fong had sent his faulty projector, his prized possession, for repair..

She emptied the money that was meant for her back operation, (a cool $8000) on the repair of the projector, without his knowledge...

Hock Seng was so touched that he cried.. Deep down, he knew, 'she was the one..' But his efforts of locating Ah Fong was furtile, as all his calls went unanswered.. Visits to her home were refused...

He was desperate & didn't know what to do...

The show ended with Hock Seng cooking her sweet potato porridge, sent it to her stall, & asked a simple question:

Will you have the porridge with me..??

Ah Fong smiled, & the show ended with Hock Seng feeding Ah Fong the porridge, & a blissful Ah Fong eating happily..

The show, may have ended, but the memory remains...

It made me think... Just how much must a couple go through, to know that they're meant for each other..??

He is still in the finding... Seriously, i hope he can find his love soon.. It pains me (as a friend) to see him knocking & knocking on closed doors... He, seriously is a nice chap...

I think i've really hurt him far too deeply...

Then again, when it comes to the matters of the heart, chemistry plays a part too right..?? Probably we just didn't have that kind of chemistry or maybe i wasn't ready to commit myself into any serious r/s yet...

I'm not sure myself...
